SoTD: The Beatnuts “Watch Out Now”
Sometimes I get the flute riff from this song stuck in my head for days at a time. I’ll be scrubbin’ up in the shower and find myself absentmindedly whistling it and BAM…earworm for days. It happened again today, so I have to pass it along.
This happy little scrap of hip-hop is helping me get through another brutally cold day of this interminable winter. It feels like forever since I’ve been warm all the way down to my bones. There are only two days left until March, and the third month gives me hope that New England will eventually shed its icy crust. Before too long, the first green spikes of crocus will be poking through what was formerly tundra. It may not happen in March, but eventually the first sixty degree day will be upon us and it will feel like being reborn. I can see why the marketing wizards of the early Christian church chose early spring for the celebration of Easter. For those in northern climes, we all feel resurrected from the inescapable cold and dark.
